We administer the driving test regardless of where you took driver education, with Carlton Driving School, on-line, parent-taught or another driving school. Don't worry about paperwork, we'll guide you through the process. When testing with Carlton Driving School you will not need to provide your own car, gas or insurance…. Your test will be administered using our car with no extra charge!

ROAD TEST INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:
• Use of Carlton Driving School vehicle for testing.
• Test criteria provided to tester prior to administration of the test.
• Upon completion of the driving test, the examiner will tell the applicant of any errors made during the driving test and advise the applicant how to correct those errors.
Once you pass the road test all forms will be sealed in envelope, which you'll take to DPS office for submittal to obtain your Drivers License

TEEN (16-18 YEAR OLD) TESTING REQUIREMENTS & PAPERWORK
YOU QUALIFY TO TAKE A ROAD TEST IF:
• You are between age 16 to 18
• You have your valid learner's permit and held permit for a minimum of 6 months
• You have completed an approved Teen Driver Education Program (32 Classroom hours and 14 hours of BTW in-car instruction).
• You have your DE-964 (Commercial/Online Driving School Certificate) and/or PT-964 (Parent Taught Certificate)
• Watched the 2 hour Impact Texas Teen Drivers Video and received the ITTD Completion Certificate (expires 90 days after date of issue). CLICK HERE TO REGISTER TO WATCH VIDEO
YOU MUST BRING THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS WITH YOU DAY OF YOUR TEST:
1. Valid Texas Learner's Permit (must have held for min of 6 months, check date on back of permit to verify date you must hold permit until)
2. Teen Drivers Ed Course COMPLETION CERTIFICATE (DE-964 and/or PT-964 aka "Green Sheet")
3. Classroom Instruction Log (showing all 32 hours, 1-12 chapter levels)
4. Behind the Wheel Instruction Log (14 hours of driving lessons with instructor or parent)
5. Behind the Wheel Practice Log (30 hours of driving with licensed adult 21 year or older)
6. If you took Parent-taught program, you must provide printed copy of purchase receipt
7. Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) COMPLETION CERTIFICATE. After watching the ITTD 2 hr video, you need to print the certificate and bring with you at the time of DPS road test. This certificate is only valid if driving test is within 90 days of certificate date.
8. Parent or Guardian who's name is on DE964 must be present.
9. Proof of insurance – students name does not need to be on the car insurance

ADULT (18-24 YEAR OLD) TESTING REQUIREMENTS & PAPERWORK

• You are age 25 or older
• You have your valid Restricted Drivers License

CANCELLATION FEES
$40.00 Rebooking Fee will be charged if you fail to arrive on time for your scheduled appointment, arrive without correct paperwork OR if you request to reschedule without giving 24 Hours notice. Refunds are not given unless appointment is cancelled 24 Hours ahead of appointment time.
RE-TEST FEES
Student/Testers who score below state mandated passing grade can schedule a Re-Test for $40.00 fee applies to each Re-Test. If Student/Tester is unable to pass their Road Test on the 3rd attempt, State law requires they visit a local Texas Department of Public Safety office for additional testing.
